National Rice Day

Every year Nepal celebrates Asar 15 (according to Nepali calendar) as Rastriya Dhan Diwas ie National Rice Day or National Paddy Day. It is celebrated to mark the peak season of paddy transplantation in Nepal. Rice is the major staple food of Nepal, on which people spend as much as 34% of total monthly food expenditure. Rice supplies 40% per capita of the total calorie intake. It accounts for 55% of total cereal production in the country. (Ref: IRRI).

Here is a collection of snaps that I personally shot during rice transplantation activities in around hilly region of Nepal.

scrap of an article dated ages found...

As I was running down the old diary of mine, my eyes caught a scrap about World Environment Day 2002. Went through that and an idea struck on my mind, why on digitise the scrap before it makes its way to the trash...

"Today is June 5th. This day is one of the most important day for all humankind  The importance of World Environment Day has reached at the zenith at this modern computer age but polluted one..
although the man are most advanced living creature, his deeds are so downgraded that it has direct and adverse impact on the reputation of human.
If the rate of pollution keeps on climbing the steps of limitation, it is cent percent sure that it will reflect with more force.
On this beautiful earth every living creature has equal rights. Man, the supernatural creature has tried to chain down all the other creatures which is directly inverse of natural law.
Now earth is full of man but if pollution rate goes on increasing like this, we can say that another sagarmatha will be created made up of skeletons and bones..
Moreover people have to carry their own oxygen cylinders on their back for the survival. Now the turn has come that all people must be alert and wake up and break the nightmare.
All of us must work in a body and join hands in hand together to fight against the pollution."

“SAVE ENVIRONMENT SAVE EARTH”

Environment Day Special

Make this Earth a heaven
With all the force you can
Plant trees and save the raven
Do not use plastics if you can

Donot make this Earth a hell
Hurry up! Or shall we fail
Go ahead and clean surrounding
Hurry up! because the time is running...

Even after 12 years or more nothing has really changed. The issues regarding environment and climate keeps being neglected till they hit back and in fact they are hitting human back in many forms..
This year too we celebrated #WED2013 with big themes and big dreams... "May the dream come true"
