Grave threat

Grave Threat

We face the gravest threat that civilization has ever confronted. It's global in nature and requires a global solution. Increased CO2 emissions anywhere, whether from China or the United States or from one of the countries that is burning its forests like Brazil or Indonesia—from wherever the emissions come, they have the same effect: They trap much more heat from the sun, melt the ice, raise the sea level, cause stronger storms, floods, drought, bigger fires, generate millions of climate refugees, destabilize political systems, threaten the growing of food crops and cause a number of other catastrophic consequences which, taken together, threaten the basis for the future of human civilization on the Earth. Because these consequences are distributed globally, the problem masquerades as a distraction. Because the length of time between causes and consequences stretches out longer than we're used to dealing with, it gives us the illusion that we have the luxury of time. Neither of those things is true.

The crisis is a concrete threatening reality today. It stands to get catastrophically worse unless we take action before the accumulation of this global warming pollution reaches such toxic levels that the problem becomes bigger than we can solve.

"Her First Class"

Almost two months have passed since Susane joined her class. To the greatest despair the first class is just a day before the mid-term. "Take mid-terms seriously huh, the weightage is big enough to leave scar on yours face" ,they say.
Clock is ticking and it is around 1500 hrs when mobile rings where a friend of her informs her that the arrangements of class has been made and the teacher has asked all the students to reach the department meeting hall by 1600 hrs. With a tinge of excitement and some anger in her face, she runs towards the class. She reaches the class by 1545 hrs where she finds no one at the department but the empty chairs and desk which are encrusted with a layer of dust being the hall out of use for around a fortnight. She waits and waits until she is found by her classmates, together they wait for their first class entitled "Technical Writing". The teacher is never expected to be punctual at his class.
Finally the man expected arrives with a big grin on his face, really trying to hide out the shame. God teach him how to do so! The lecture begins with a lame excuse that he was kept in the dark side and no information relayed about the allotment of the class. He tries to gather some sympathy from students stating being excluded and biased in the department. He uses his own indigenous language for the communication which is just a alien language for Susane. Susane just even bothers to object the use of alien language. Uttering for around 30 long minutes the dumb fellow realises his use of language and ask the class,"Are u all following me? mine language?"
Holy shit he realizes finally.
Susane replies promptly, "NO,NOT A SINGLE SHIT!"
